Weighted mean of grades

The weighted mean of grades aggregation method calculates each item grade by multiplying its percentage by the the weight you assign. All items are then added together and divided by the total amount of weight points in the category. The higher you weight an item, the more heavily it will count toward a student's grade. You can also weight an entire course with this aggregation strategy. In many courses, the instructor may want to assign different elements of performance (such as daily work and tests) to defined percentages in determining a course grade. Let's say you have set the overall course aggregation to Weighted mean of grades. You have a category for quizzes that you want to count as 40% of the total grade, and another for projects that will count as 60% of the total grade. To do this, you enter 40.00 for quizzes and 60.00 for projects in the weight column of the categories. There is no need to weight individual assignments now, as Moodle will do this automatically.
