What is the Gradebook?
The Grader report is often referred to as "The Gradebook." The Gradebook is simply a repository that stores and reports on all graded activities in a course. Grades are pushed from activity modules to the gradebook for safe-keeping and aggregation. The gradebook has three basic building blocks:
- Grades: This is what a student scores on an activity. A grade has settings that affect how it is displayed to the users, as well as locking and hiding functions.
- Grade items: A grade item is the gradebook representation of each gradable course activity. The grade item stores a grade for each student in the course, and has settings for affecting these grades.
- Grade categories: A grade category groups grade items together and has settings for aggregating and displaying those graded items.
