Max Grade

This is the maximum allowable grade for either the category or the grade item.

Mean of grades

The mean of grades aggregation method calculates the percentage for each item. Then, it averages the scores. Mean of grades is a good choice when all activities are given equal points, as this aggregation will equally affect the overall grade. This is the most common strategy utilized by K-12 instructors. Only use this method when the number of points given to an item is arbitrary and is not a factor in deciding its weight for computing the course grade.

Median of Grades

Moodle's Median of Grades aggregation method takes the middle grade (or the mean of the two middle grades) when grades are arranged in order from least to greatest. Look at the formula to see the actual arithmetic employed. Grade 1: 18/20 = 90% Grade 2: 70/100 = 70% Grade 3: 5/10 = 50% Total grade equals = 50%, 70%, 90% = 70% or 70/100

Message to Grade Range

Set a grade range that will trigger a custom message to be sent to students whose grades fall within that range.

Message to Incompletes

Send a message to all participants who have not completed a specific activity.

Message to student

Send a message to one participant.

Mode of Grades

Moodle's Mode of Grades aggregation method takes the grade that occurs most frequently, and uses it as the category total. Look at the formula to see the actual arithmetic employed. Grade 1: 85 Grade 2: 70 Grade 3: 85 Total grade equals = 85

Move (icon)

When selected the item associated can be moved to a new location.

Move this to a different gradebook category

Move a graded item from one category to another.

Multiplicator

The multiplicator is the factor by which all grades for this grade item will be multiplied, with a maximum value of the maximum grade. For example, if the multiplicator is 2 and the maximum grade is 100, then all grades less than 50 are multiplied by 2 and all grades 50 and above are changed to 100.
