Suggested Browser, Navigation and Key Terms
Recommended Browser and Navigation Basics
Recommended Browser
The recommended browser for using Moodle is an up to date version of Mozilla Firefox/Safari. Google Chrome also works fairly well but is not a recommended browser.
Please note that if using Internet Explorer you will likely encounter issues with 'the drag and drop' file function as well as other things.
Navigation Basics
Depending on the initial setup of your course, you may find the front page divided into sections, or each section may be on a separate page accessible by arrows at the top and bottom. In this course, 'Getting Started' is the first section, 'Resources and Activities' is the second section, and so on. Each section has its own descriptive summary, in the 'Getting started' section of this course it is the text and links to moodle guides. The names of sections and their summaries are fully customisable.
As you click between pages in Moodle you will notice the breadcrumb trail at the top of the screen changing, for instance:
![]()
You can use this to return to a previous page at any time. This is preferable to using your browser's Back button. Click on the course title (in the example above this is 'tarek1-training') to return to the course home page.
Your course may also have a 'Navigation' block enabled which is another way to navigate the course.
